Traditional Thai Massage

What is Traditional Thai Massage?

Traditional Thai massage origins are traditionally linked to Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, a physician believed to have treated the Buddha. Today, it is considered an important part of Thai traditional medicine.

Thai massage combines elements of acupressure, and assisted yoga postures. The massage is usually performed on a mat on the floor, with the recipient fully clothed in comfortable clothes allowing to freely move and stretch the body.

Key Elements:

No Oils: Clients remain fully clothed, and no massage oil is used on the body. I use oil optionally for belly massage and for face massage at the end of the session.

Stretching: The practitioner uses hands, knees, legs, and feet to move the client into a series of stretches that resemble yoga postures. It is sometimes called “lazy yoga” because of that - you can close your eyes and relax while I stretch your body. â€‹

Acupressure: Pressure is applied along sen energy lines and points throughout the body to stimulate energy flow and remove blockages.

Rhythmic and Meditative: The massage follows a flowing, meditative rhythm designed to encourage relaxation.
